3CX has made significant investments in AI with V20 Update 8, transforming the

new:


AI Receptionist Powered by OpenAI, the 3CX AI Receptionist answers calls instantly,
screens them, and filters out spam before they reach your team. It understands and
speaks many languages, adapts to your company’s tone and processes, and can
schedule meetings, handle inquiries, route calls, and capture key details — all through
natural, human-like conversations.


Agentic AI & AI Call Routing Update 8 marks a major step forward in how 3CX applies
AI to real-world call handling, with a strong focus on control, compliance, and
predictable costs. AI-powered routing, screening, and assistant roles are now
significantly expanded across the platform.


AI Personal Assistant (PA) Role The new PA AI Agent role is designed to screen and
manage calls on behalf of an executive. The PA extends a trusted caller circle, enforces availability rules, and handles callers on behalf of the user — reducing interruptions and ensuring important calls always get through.

AI Knowledge Sources AI Knowledge Sources allow AI Agents to retrieve company-
specific information during calls and chats, referencing internal materials such as
policies, FAQs, routing rules, or product guides — directly from the admin console.

Call Transcription & Summaries 3CX automatically transcribes recorded calls and
generates an AI summary capturing key topics, action items, and outcomes. Summaries appear in the web client and mobile app alongside the call recording, so managers can review team activity without listening to every call.

On-Premise & Private Cloud Transcription For organizations that cannot — or
choose not to — share voice data with external services, 3CX now supports
transcription entirely on your own network or private cloud. All processing happens on a machine you fully control, with no call data sent to OpenAI or Google. This also enables accurate speaker diarization, clearly identifying who said what on every call.

AI Meeting Notes For conference calls and internal meetings, 3CX automatically
generates meeting notes capturing attendees, key discussion points, and action items — no manual note-taking required.
